I am currently a medical student at Stanford School of Medicine. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering from Rice University.
Experience
My experience tutoring began in high school, when I tutored 5th and 6th grade math and creative writing. At Rice University, I worked as a teaching assistant for a Bioreaction Engineering course. I enjoyed the opportunity to interact with students at office hours and to create and grade homework problems. I also tutored high school AP physics during my junior year of college. This experience was especially fun because I created very challenging practice problems for a student who wanted to completely master the course. At Rice University I also designed and implemented a 5 week course on leadership for 6th and 7th graders at YES Prep Middle School. At Stanford, I enjoyed being a TA for a medical imaging class, anatomy for bioengineers, and anatomy for medical students. As an aspiring physician, I value one on one interactions and would find the opportunity to help a student reach his/her academic goals very rewarding. Tutoring will allow me the opportunity to think of creative ways to help students master concepts and to personalize lessons to the individual student's learning style. This will be an enjoyable experience for me, and through interactions with individual students, I will gain transferable experience for future patient interactions and academic medicine.
