I am a first year medical student at the Stanford School of Medicine. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.). I also have a minor in Public Policy with a focus on social and educational policy.
Experience
My experience tutoring began as a reading and writing tutor for a 4th grade student at the Cambridge Community Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In addition to tutoring, my responsibilities included designing a custom reading/writing lesson plan for the student I worked with. I have also had the opportunity to work as a teaching assistant for a Biology Lab course at MIT. My tutoring style includes ensuring that I incorporate my students' unique needs, learning styles, and interests in my lesson plans. I have found this style to be highly effective for results-focused tutoring. In addition, I have participated in an MIT program called "Four Weeks For America" during which I was placed with a Teach For America Teacher in Kingstree, South Carolina. My responsibilities included teaching lessons, planning lessons, and assisting individual students. Through this program, I had the opportunity to work with students in a disadvantaged community. We faced unique challenges that allowed me to build upon my overall teaching skills. Finally, I have experience designing and teaching a nutrition program to over 1500 students in Boston and Phoenix. I worked with K-12 students and implemented activities/hands-on learning in my instruction as much as possible.
