Private tutor in Stanford, CA

Education

I have graduated with a Biological Science Major at the University of California, Irvine. GPA: 3.94. I am preparing to be a science teacher, and have lots of experience working with and teaching both high school and college students. I currently am in a teacher credentialing/masters program at Stanford University.

Experience

I have been a tutor for 8 years. I have tutored various subjects including biology, chemistry, math, and English. Also, I have taken education classes that have prepared me to teach and tutor. I have worked for professional tutoring companies before, and have been professionally instructed on various methods to tutor students. Previously, I have taught students of all ages in private and group settings. I really enjoy meeting new people while tutoring and helping people develop the skills to study more efficiently. My goal is to give students the tools to achieve academic success in each specific class I tutor, and in future classes. I have taken and received As in all of the following classes: Cellular Biology, Physiology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, the general chemistry series, the organic chemistry series, the physics series, Calculus 1 and 2, and lower division writing. During high school, I received a score of 5 on nearly all of my AP tests from AP Biology to AP Literature. I also received all 6s on Higher Level IB tests (Biology, History, and English). I am confident in my ability to teach students to succeed on tests include various AP and IB exams. I also scored above the 90th percentile for the GRE exam. I am confident in my ability to tutor for both the GRE and the SAT, as well as the subject tests. In order to constantly improve my tutoring skills, I ask for feedback from students and parents. I like to tutor based on the needs of the student, so at any point during a tutoring session I am willing to adjust my teaching style based on individual need. If a tutoring session is unsatisfactory, that tutoring session is free of charge and any suggested improvements will be made. I will even offer the FIRST SESSION, FREE OF CHARGE, to ensure satisfaction. My schedule is generally flexible, and I am willing to accommodate the schedule of the tutee and parents. I can tutor at the students home or a location near the students home in order to ensure that both the student and the parent is comfortable with the teaching arrangements. I prefer to stay in the region of orange county, but accommodations can be made for further distances. As a student I know the stress that school can cause, and I hope to relieve that stress for the students I tutor and lead them to be successful not only in the class I help them with, but also in the other classes they take. Thank you for your time and consideration, and I hope to meet you soon!
