Organic Chemistry I & II
I've spent the past year tutoring for families and students in the Palo Alto/Menlo Park area, where I've taught subjects ranging from 5th grade Math & Language Arts to high school English. I currently tutor AP Biology, Honors Biology, Honors Chemistry & Algebra II. My past experience includes tutoring for the MIT Biology Department and the MIT Office of Minority Education, where I taught Introductory Biology, Cell Biology and Genetics.
Tutoring has been a rewarding experience for me and I would like to continue it throughout my time at Stanford. I especially enjoy the mentoring aspect of tutoring. As an undergraduate at MIT I served as a mentor for students at a local high school, and for the past couple years I have been working with the American Medical Student Association to mentor pre-medical students through the application process.

HobbiesI grew up in a close family on the north shore of Massachusetts. I’m the oldest of four and growing up I spent a lot of time taking care of my younger siblings. My first tutoring experiences were actually helping them with their schoolwork when they were very young!
I completed my undergraduate education in Brain and Cognitive Sciences at MIT, where I became very involved in the Boston community through service work. I specifically worked to provide support to brain injury survivors though a student group called the MIT BrainTrust. I enjoyed being connected to the community, which was why I also chose to mentor local students. I am looking forward to getting to know Stanford and the surrounding community better.
I’m an active person and I love sports – I played soccer year round in high school and was captain of my club team. Now I enjoy running, skiing, and playing soccer whenever I get the chance.

Alissa is a wonderful tutor - she came prepared to tutoring sessions and was very accommodating to my schedule. She helped me prepare for the MCAT with an individualized study plan, study guides/cheat sheets, and extremely helpful suggestions. Alissa was not only able to identify my weaknesses, but also to provide effective test prep tips. She was very prompt and meticulous when responding to my emails. I highly recommend Alissa as a tutor!
Alissa is very intelligent and responsible. My 11th grade daughter needed help with her AP Bio and I found Alissa from this website. I was very happy and trusted her from the beginning. Being a medical student at Stanford university, I believe she knows the subject very well. She has been very systematic in teaching the subject and is very patient. Biology being a vast subject, Alissa teaches the subject at the students level so that she understands the subject at depth and does it well. My daughter likes the subject more as she enjoys and looks forward to her class every week.
